Committed to his goals

After earning his associate degree from Roxbury Community College, Dumazo Negsina quickly set his sights higher—on his long-term goal of working in medicine. After researching his options, he applied to Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies because he thought it would give him the edge he needed to reach his goals:

“When I compared the curriculum to other schools, Northeastern was more thorough. I felt that it really gave you the things you needed to succeed in life.”

In 2015, he enrolled in Northeastern’s Bachelor of Science in Health Science program and immediately hit the ground running. He quickly earned the respect of his peers and professors, constantly praised for his sheer determination to accomplish his goals in life. And he shows no signs of slowing down; it’s just a matter of time before he’s the “next big thing” in health science.

Balancing work and school

As much as he wanted to earn his bachelor’s degree, it wasn’t always easy, he shares:

“When I got accepted to Northeastern, I was juggling two jobs. There were times I wanted to quit. But I made the dean’s list one semester and then the next semester. I was ecstatic. I always thought I was just an average student…so making the dean’s list was a big deal to me. I learned if you want something, you have to put in the work.”
