Focused on one of the fastest-growing job markets, the Bachelor of Science in information technology offers a program that fosters critical thinking as it demystifies technology. You’ll develop strengths in all aspects of IT, with an experiential focus on acquiring valuable knowledge and hands-on skills. Optional concentrations in applications development (including web programming, mobile programming, and databases) and cybersecurity (including network security, computer forensics, and software vulnerabilities) will give you a grounding in high-demand professional tools to help launch or boost your career. You’ll also reinforce core business competencies such as project management, business communications, group dynamics, and organizational skills. Your existing certifications—such as A+, network, or Project Management Professional certifications—may be applied toward course credits.

Learners can also take advantage of our plus-one accelerated pathways, with the option to start earning your master’s degree one year sooner than you would with a traditional master’s program. Choose among the Master of Science in computer science, Master of Science in informatics, Master of Professional Studies in analytics, Master of Professional Studies in geospatial services, Master of Science in project management, or Master of Science in information systems.

Program Objectives

The experiential associate to master’s Bachelor of Science in information technology provides an experiential education to promote career advancement and pursue advanced degrees in Information Technology.

This program fosters the critical thinking and technical skills that help you succeed in one of the fastest-growing job markets, develop the communication and teamwork skills that IT professionals use to understand business needs, and work with a variety of users to create highly effective solutions.

You’ll develop strengths in all aspects of IT with an experiential focus, acquiring valuable knowledge and hands-on skills. Optional concentrations in applications development (including web programming, mobile programming, and databases) and cybersecurity (including network security, computer forensics, and software vulnerabilities) will give you a grounding in high-demand professional tools to help launch or boost your career.

You can qualify for credit from a prior learning assessment (PLA) based on your relevant work experience and on-the-job training. Examples include existing certifications such as A+, network, or Project Management Professional certifications, which may be applied toward course credits.

Experiential Associate to Master’s

Our experiential associate to master’s collaborates with local communities to create pathways for students to pursue credentials at multiple levels—from certificates to master’s programs—all while providing robust student support, mentoring and experiential learning opportunities. Each learner will have a success coach to ensure they have what they need to be successful—from scholarship supports, to jobs, to childcare, to tutoring.

Pell Eligible Students

Federal Funding eligibility is in progress for Northeastern University in Miami. Career Outcomes

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in information technology is expected to grow much faster than average, and job prospects should be excellent. While the field continues to be very robust, college graduates with expertise in computer network systems, cyber security, and database administration are expected to enjoy the best opportunities. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), part of the Department of Commerce, says overall employment of software developers, quality assurance analysts, and testers is projected to grow 25% between 2021 and 2031. About 163,000 openings for these professionals are projected each year, on average and over the decade.
